'Tis the season for holiday parties galore - how many have you been to so far? Whether ugly sweater, formal or just a cozy get-together, the holidays always bring out good people, good times, spirits (both etheral and sippable) and lots of savory & sweet treats. We do our best to enjoy in moderation but it's not always the easiest thing to do. If you're tasked to bring something to a holiday party this year I have an easy and not too waistline-offensive recipe that is tasty & easy to throw together.
This shrimp dip is a recipe my mom has been making for holiday & cocktail parties for years - it's always a hit and almost guaranteed not to be repeated by anyone else at the party. It only takes about 20 mins from start to finish (not counting 30 mins chill time), and you can serve this dip with anything from buttery Ritz crackers to lower-sodium whole wheat crackers to red pepper strips.
Check out the photos & recipe below! Happy Holidays!

Lydia's Party Shrimp Dip
Ingredients
- two 1/3 less fat-8 oz. pkgs cream cheese, softened (you could also use fat-free cream cheese here; if you're not baking with it, the taste is not much different from less fat or full fat cream cheese)
- 1 1/2 tsp worcestershire sauce
- one bunch green onions (about 10 individual onions, diced)
- one 4 oz. can baby (small) shrimp
- one bottle cocktail sauce
*crackers, baguettes or veggies for dipping
Directions
Dice green onions into the green about half an inch and set aside. Open shrimp can and drain all excess liquid, set aside. In a medium bowl mix together the cream cheese and worcestershire sauce until combined. Add diced onion and shrimp and mix until well incorporated.
Spread dip in a dish about 1.5-2 inches deep - this amount fits nicely in a casserole dish about 9" x 9" (or other serving dish of a similar size). Finally, pour entire bottle of cocktail sauce over the top of the dip mixture and spread lightly until the cocktail sauce fully covers the dip. Chill dip for at least 30 minutes. It can also be chilled overnight, but if making that far ahead wait to put the (chilled) cocktail sauce on until about 30 mins before serving.
Enojoy :)
